I've been getting horrible stiches when I run. Anyone have any advice?

Stitches? Please explain

When people run 🏃 and get a cramp in their side that they can't usually keep going or doing so is painful. the biggest thing i remember is that you must wait after eating...? because the body is sending blood to the gut/digestion. if you have waited and get a stitch maybe you haven't had enough BM's that day or are a little constipated? or the colon on that side is, uh, ' processing'. lol Perhaps bump up fiber, fruits in the diet, prunes are good ( 5 a day= 100 calories and a nice sweet snack. ? or switch up the time of day for a while that you run and see how it goes?

Thanks I'll try that. It did happen when I switched from running in the morning or at night to running an hour after lunch. I thought an hour was long enough but maybe your right and my body needs more time.

2-3 hours is optimal for running after eating. The other frequent cause is irregular breathing that is also too shallow. Interferes with the movement of the diaphragm. Another is lack of core (Abdominal muscle) strength. I don’t know how long you have been a runner..

I've only been running for about 4-5 week's. I do 1minute running, two walking, 8 reps. Is it disingenuous to call that running? It feels like running.

Ok--I was thinking you are probably new to running.learning to control your breathing is really important and it is hard to do at first. I do think that you need to wait longer after eating as well. Use our friend Google to research suggestions for new runners.
