Who *doesn't* get drunk and inhale a burger at/after a wedding?
Had a terrific week with the kids on vacation. Took them out for ice cream once, ate fast food a few times without trouble, and did lots of biking, hiking and climbing, which was great for exercise! Being by myself with the kids, drinking wasn't terribly tempting.
I got home from vaca Friday, weighed myself, and found I was down almost 2 pounds,.. yay!
Then the wedding Saturday... did great, even biked Saturday afternoon, but drank too much, ate a burger afterwards, Saturday night/morning. Then yesterday I totally pigged out on Italian food.
I'm trying to keep a positive attitude and learn from my hiccups. Usually hectic, out of routine days are really tough for me, so I think I did okay considering all of last week was vacation that I did alright throughout.
Not sure what happened yesterday. :]
Will hop back in the saddle today. The next few weeks have a more stable schedule so staying focused on my goals should be easier.
A bit about vaca with the kids..
First off, it was really cool and inspiring to stand at the foot of a sizable bluff, with two kids who were SURE they could NOT climb it.
To see their excitement and proud (though sweaty :) smiles when we finally made it to the top was really awesome. We're all like that. *I* am like that. Standing at the bottom of a big challenge feeling like I cannot possible do it.
It's crap. Just as much as I knew my kids could scale that bluff, I should *KNOW* I can attain my goals with persistence.
Also, I really want to keep working on setting a good example for my daughter. I want her to see that diet and exercise are not just about being 'skinny' or 'looking great'. The goal is feeling good, and knowing you are doing your personal best. I want her to understand that taking care of your body isn't just about keeping/making yourself 'hot' but giving yourself the gift of personal confidence through striving to your highest potential, in body and mind.
It's also important to keep a lid on the negative comments I make about myself around the kids. That can't be productive. :)
